Turtle Beach may be repaired sooner than planned – SKA requests County to pause approval to hear comments from Siesta residents

March 5, 2022 —

The Turtle Beach repair project scheduled for 2026 may be moved ahead to 2024 as a result of FEMA-requested changes. Specifics of the project, such as sand specifications, are yet to be finalized. At the February 23 County Commission meeting, SKA Director, Bob Luckner, requested that the County pause approval to consider new facts and to accept comments from Siesta residents. He told the Commissioners, “I think a lot has changed on that project.” SKA requested a presentation by the County at a future SKA meeting. Click here to read SKA’s submitted comments.
