LEGAL ACTIONS OPPOSING APPROVED SIESTA KEY HOTEL PROJECTS 

Two legal actions have been filed to reverse the recent decisions of the Sarasota County Commission regarding high-occupancy hotels on Siesta Key.

Legal action filed by Jim Wallace, et al

“The complaint alleges that, on October 27, 2021, the Sarasota Board of County Commissioners  acted illegally and in violation of their own procedures by adopting the Land Development Code changes without  first amending their Comprehensive Plan policy 2.9.1. “

In addition to Jim Wallace, plaintiffs include:  Marina del Sol Condominium Assoc., 222 Beach Road Owners Assoc., and Rob Sax, resident.

Legal action filed by Lourdes Ramirez

This suit alleges that the Sarasota County Commission’s Oct. 27 approval of an eight-story, 170-room hotel between Beach Road and Calle Miramar violates numerous sections of the County Comprehensive Plan and adversely impacts traffic and hurricane evacuation.
