SKA Contributions to our Community

We all recognize the natural beauty of our Island, and we delight in the historic charm of the Village, the beach, and the lifestyle they evoke. But we often fail to understand that preserving these qualities requires endless attention. Our Board of Directors provides persistent attention to preserve
Siesta Key. You will find the Island in its present state, thanks largely to the Siesta Key Association.  Following are just a few of our current and previous activities:

  • Lobby against Increased Density
  • Zoning Changes
  • Hurricane Preparedness “Town Meetings”
  • Canopy Road Protection
  • Mangrove Protection, Enforcement and Education
  • Timed Stickney Point Bridge Openings
  • New Welcome Sign and Landscaping in Medians
  • Dog Stations, Park Benches, Ash Cans along Midnight Pass Road
  • Sarasota Audubon Shorebird Project
  • New Navigation Markers for the Gulf side of Big Pass
  • Litter Pick Up on Ocean Blvd. and S. Midnight Pass
  • Keep Sarasota Beautiful Coastal Cleanup
Download Bike Map One of the best ways to get around on Siesta Key is by bicycle, particularly during peak traffic seasons.  Keep in mind that according to Florida Law, a bicycle is considered a vehicle, which means that cyclists generally observe the same traffic rules that apply to cars.
