Want to help Siesta Key birds?

September 14, 2021  —

Our weekly shorebird updates are over for the season.  However, our feathered friends need help all year.
Save Our Seabirds (S.OS.) is a non-profit rescue and rehabilitation facility for all types of wild birds (despite the name). They are located next to Mote Marine Aquarium on City Island. S.O.S. is the go-to organization for any sick, orphaned, or injured birds in the Sarasota area, and as such they receive upwards of 5000 calls a year. They rely on volunteers to rescue birds. One of their most skilled and reliable rescuers lives on Siesta Key, however he is the ONLY rescuer on Siesta Key. If anyone loves wildlife, has free time, and is interested in becoming a volunteer rescuer or even just a transporter for us, S.O.S. would love to hear from you! Training provided!

Feel free to email Jocelyn Shearer, Director of Operations, at jshearer@saveouseabirds.org.
And, as always, if you see a bird in trouble, call 941 388-3010.
