Siesta Wastewater Buildings to be Demolished July through November

July 18, 2020  —

Sarasota County will mail the following to all residents within 1000 feet of the Siesta Key Water Reclamation Facility:

Sarasota County has contracted with Cross Construction Services to
perform demolition of some structures at the Siesta Key Water Reclamation
Facility located at 5200 Oakmont Place. The contract is for $1,101,998.75.
With the decommissioning of the Siesta Key Water Reclamation Facility,
formerly known as the Siesta Key Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant,
and construction of the new Siesta Key Master Pump Station, the majority
of the remaining infrastructure on the plant site is no longer needed and can
be demolished.
The project includes the removal and demolition of selected tanks, buildings
and above ground structures. The new master pump station, two million
gallon tank, and the warehouse building will remain on the site. Additional
minor improvements include new fencing at the entrance of the site, a new
asphalt driveway, and sodding of the area where demolition occurred.
Demolition is scheduled to begin in July and is expected to be complete in
November 2020. Thank you for your patience during construction.
