On behalf of the Local Group of Deep Sky Observers, I am pleased to announce the next Sidewalk Astronomy event, Weather permitting, on Saturday, February 1, starting at 6:15 pm, and continuing until at least 10:00 pm.
Located at 1 Ram Way in Sarasota (just off Proctor Road, about three-quarters of a mile east of US 41). Sidewalk Astronomy group will set up their high-quality telescopes on the sidewalk surrounding the school’s Science Center/Planetarium.
The main observing highlights of the evening will include close-up details of the first quarter moon as well as the Great Nebula in Orion–a stellar nursery some 1400 light-years from the Earth. Other deep-sky objects will be viewed through our amazing telescopes throughout the course of the evening. As always, Sidewalk Astronomy is free of charge and is open to people of all ages.
